Rackwood Dawn (1990)

Dam: Rackwood Velvet, Sire: Tarnmoor Prince

Dawn is the eldest of my ponies and has been ridden regularly during the last three years. As a youngster she was well handled and regularly shown being FPS Breed Show Female Champion and Supreme Champion in 1993. With the onset of my father's illness during the early 1990s Dawn was not used to her full potential. She became a broodmare and produced three healthy foals - 1 filly and 2 colts. I kept the filly (Magic) but the 2 colts (Bob & William) were sold.

When it became obvious that she was not going to breed anymore I decided that she needed a purpose in life so I broke her to ride and have used her for all recent FPS pleasure rides. She is very forward going and definitely not suitable for a novice rider although she is very sensible and safe in traffic.

On returning from a ride one day during the summer of 2010, Dawn made a bee line for Brackenbank Amos with the obvious signs of being in season. Not wishing to disappoint either party I allowed her to be covered not expecting the mating to be successful. To my delight she produced a filly foal at the end of June 2011.

Dawn died 01-09-2014.
